Shocking lape scene caught on video

Match or not?

I know quite a few people who are firm believers in horoscope and the accompanying traits. So when someone mentioned to me that me and my gf don’t match that well, horoscopically at least, i decide to find out for myself.

Using this.

Conclusion: Fuck it.

A healthier alternative to rice – Quinoa

From one of my fav mags, Men’s Health, an article in the July 2007 issue talked about a lesser known grain known as Quinoa (pronounced keen-no-ah). Quinoa contains as much protein as milk with twice the fibre of pasta and brown rice. For the muscle guys, quinoa also offers the amino acids that is critical for muscle growth and magnesium, which is good for the heart.

Ever since i read that article, i wanted to try out this supposedly nutrition packed food. After visits to Cold Storage, NTUC and Carrefour, i returned empty handed but not dishearted. Sometime about a month ago, i managed to find a packet of this goodness at some ulu organic farm. Being organic means its not cheap, a 500g packet cost $6.

So today, i brought out the mag and the packet of quinoa.

The instructions to cook is surprisely simple. Put the grains into boiling water and turn the heat low, simmer for 20min until the grains soften, drain the water and you have the quinoa ready for use.

The tiny strands of yellow thingy is the husk, or the shell of the grain, i think.

The taste of quinoa has a tinge of herbal taste, or nutty as mentioned in the mag. Not as plain as rice but its a good substitute.

Short trip to Batam

At the Natas fair about a month ago, we booked a short packaged trip to Batam. It was a 3D2N at this Purajaya beach resort which is just 5min drive from the Nosapura ferry terminal which is 45min boat ride away from Tanah Merah ferry terminal.

From the start, i am not expecting much from the resort. I had been to Batam and knew well what they can offer. Its more of an experience for my gf who has never been here. Somemore, for $135 for 2 pax plus free massage, free breakfast and one lunch, i cannot ask for much.

This is the restaurant where we had the breakfast and lunch. The spread of the breakfast is pathetic, so much that i didn’t even bother to take pictures.

The lunch sucks too. My gf ordered the nasi ikan billis which tasted too salty while my nasi ramis (no idea wat ramis meant) was just plain rice with some curry veges, scrambled egg and some chillis. It was a stroke of foresight that we brought many cup noodles and half a loaf of bread along or we could have starved.

The pool is not at all inviting. The water is dead (not moving) and looked murky, pumps are not switched on. For my stay there, i did not see one person entering the pool. It was a pity because they even have this pool-side bar.

And the slide down the pool was em…. see for yourself.

The beach may have been more appealing, if only it was high tide.

We initially wanted to sign up for the more expensive Honeymoon package which will come with a free dinner on a romantic setting by the beach. Aww…

The resort did come with several facilities, as with many other resorts. The lack of use and maintanence have reduced them to mere existence.

The obstacle course.

The beach volleyball.

The banana boat.

Bicycles for rental.

And some more.

The price is as shown.

It was quite frustrating because i had changed some rupiah but all the prices are quoted in S$. Not that i feel like spending anyway.

The karaoke room.

Another small empty restaurant.

View of the main restaurant from the top.

There are 2 shops inside the resort, one is a cake shop while the other sells souvenirs.

The reception.

Despite of the poor amenities, the staff we met were friendly and greeted us.I find the lack of other guest rather uncomfortable; it is the school holidays and we saw less than 20 other guests.

We spent most of the time in the room, watching the dozen shows, eating and sleeping. We could have very well done this on a more local setting (ie chalet) and won’t have to worry about food.

I want this – Palm Pre

Its been more than 2 years since i last changed my handphone. While I mentioned earlier that I may get the Asus P565, its suddenly not so attractive anymore, thanks to the many new exciting handsets introduced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2009 show.

The Asus P835 looks good, thanks to the larger 3.5″ screen and addition of Asus’ own version of keypad input that may truly made operating the phone a one hand affair.

But what really excites me is the new Palm Pre. Scheduled to be released later this year, the user interface, design and some interesting innovations (like the wireless charger) made me changed my mind about the P565.

See the vid of Pre here to know what it is capable of (and more).

Saw on my JB trip

I saw and took this picture while i was in JB that day.

Wonder what furniture they used.

Movie review – K20 (怪人二十面相, 伝)

This show has the most yan-tao actor and prettiest actress to me, so how can i possibly miss it?

The story takes place in a hypothetical time where the 2nd world war did not take place. The world is still stuck with distinct classes, similar to India’s caste system.

In this world where the gap is huge between the have’s and the have not’s, there is this dark caped masked guy who specialise in stealing from the rich and giving to the poor (although we didn’t get to see the latter part). So one day, at the demostration of a new power transmitting device, this K20 showed up and stole it right in front of everyone.

Heikichi (Takeshi Kaneshiro) is a acrobat at a local circus who was offered a ad-hoc photographer job at the engagement ceremony of famous police inspector Akechi and princess Yoko (Matsu Takako). This began an adventure which he realised that he was being set up, the circus was burnt down and he being mistaken as K20.

1) Storyline – 24 / 30

Set in a very different time and place, I feel this is very fresh from the usual popcorn movies all so common nowadays.

2) Entertainment value – 22 / 25

Very entertaining with its fair share of suspense, action and comedy. 金城武 did very well i think, especially when he didn’t mind having his face all bruised and swollen.

3) Cast – 24 / 25

My favourite actor and actress. Period.

4) Pace / Flow – 16 / 20

At 130min, the show did not feel that long. Very evenly spaced out with all the highs and lows.

Overall: 86/100

A very biased review. Highly recommended way to spend a weekend night away.
